Snap: An Awesome App for Saving Money on Groceries

A friend of mine (HT: Jason) shared this link with me last night, and I thought I’d pass it along to you guys because I know I will definitely be using it in the future. It’s called Snap, from Groupon.

Snap

Snap’s a new app for saving money on groceries – at any grocery store. You locate a coupon you want to use, “snap” a picture of the receipt, then upload it through the app. After it’s approved, they add money to your account, and you can request a check once you hit the $20 mark, which seems really easy to do as some of the coupons are for unlimited use.

And a lot of the coupons are for household staples. Here are some screenshots:

You get back $1 for buying any gallon of milk, any bread, and then others are targeted toward certain products, like the Glad trash bags or the Huggies diapers.

With points and miles

This relates to the points and miles world in a few different ways.

If you want a card that has groceries as a bonus spend category, like the Amex EveryDay Preferred, or any others, you’d be earning points on whatever you spent – and then get back some cash in hand, too.

I also noticed that my local grocery store was considered a “small business” last year for Small Business Saturday, which is coming up next month.

If I spent $30 on groceries, I’d get them for free (!) and even profit a little by using the Snap app.

A buck here and there isn’t a ton, but I can see this adding up really quickly, especially for larger families. And some of these coupons are for unlimited use.

Bottom line

You can sign up for the app by using this link. I get $1 when you download the app and use it to buy something, so thank you if you use it!

I will be using this like crazy and wanted to pass it along to my readers – enjoy!
